The Oswego East Mathematics Department’s vision is for all students and teachers to be active critical thinkers and problem solvers that contribute positively to the world in which we live and learn. Our mission is to provide opportunities for developing high-quality mathematical skills and abilities with an attitude for success. Students will be active, critical thinkers and problem solvers who contribute positively to the world in which we live and learn.

 

In every math course here at East, every student should be striving to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them, reason abstractly and quantitatively, construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, model with mathematics, use appropriate tools strategically, attend to precision, look for and make use of structure, and look for and express regularity in repeating reasoning throughout the learning process.
