SPC General Sportsmanship Letter

Dear Southwest Prairie Conference Families,

As we begin another exciting season of Southwest Prairie Conference (SPC) athletics, we would like to welcome our student-athletes, coaches, families, and fans. Whether attending a freshman contest, a varsity championship, or any competition in between, each of us plays an important role in creating a positive experience for everyone involved.

The Southwest Prairie Conference is committed to providing outstanding opportunities for student-athletes to learn, compete, and grow through education-based athletics. While we celebrate success on the fi eld, court, course, track, or pool, we believe the greatest victories are demonstrated through character, respect, and sportsmanship.

As we begin this season, we ask everyone—student-athletes, coaches, parents, and spectators—to make sportsmanship a priority at every contest. This expectation extends to all sports, all levels of competition, and every venue, whether we are competing at home or representing our schools on the road. We encourage everyone to:
  • Cheer positively for your team while respecting opponents.
  • Treat offi cials with courtesy, recognizing the important role they play in our contests.
  • Support coaches and student-athletes, both in-person and on social media, with encouragement and dignity, regardless of the outcome.
  • Model behavior that refl ects positively on your school, your community, and the Southwest Prairie Conference.

Our student-athletes are watching and learning from the adults and fans around them. By demonstrating respect, self-control, and class in both victory and defeat, we help create an environment where educational athletics can have a lasting and positive impact on every participant.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools and for helping us make the Southwest Prairie Conference a place where competition is spirited, rivalries are respected, and sportsmanship remains our highest standard. We look forward to a memorable season fi lled with outstanding performances, meaningful experiences, and communities that proudly represent the very best of high school athletics.

Sincerely,
The Southwest Prairie Conference
